How Frost Affects Your Lawn

Frost damages turf when the moisture inside the leaf blade freezes and expands, causing the grass cell walls to rupture. This not only damages the turf but also leads to visible discolouration, as the compromised cell structure slows down photosynthesis.

 

Iron Up Your Lawn

Iron is essential for the synthesis of chlorophyll, improving turf greening and overall appearance. Applying iron helps lawns look greener and healthier.

In cooler seasons in Adelaide, iron helps turf maintain colour when nitrogen uptake is slower.

Both of these are ideal for use transitioning into dormancy, during and out of dormancy, and can also be used all year around. Suitable for all common Australian lawn types including, kikuyu, buffalo, couch and zoysia.

Both being iron products, take care to avoid spraying on pavers, concrete and other surrounding hardscapes as the iron can stain.

How It Works

ColourGuard delivers micron-sized pigment solids into the tiny pores of the leaf tissue via a water spray. These colour pigments are organic and natural, making ColourGuard a safe choice for the environment, pets, and people.

How to Use It

This product is available in both concentrate and ready-to-use, hose-on versions.

Concentrate

Perfect for custom application with a pressure sprayer.

  • 100ml concentrate: 200m2
  • 2.5L concentrate: 6250m2

 

1-           Mix the concentrate with water at the recommended rate.

2-           Shake well before and after mixing.

3-           Apply using a knapsack or pump sprayer for even coverage across your lawn.

Allow to dry for 2+ hours (when in full sun, alternatively longer depending on weather conditions) before walking on the lawn or mowing.

4-           Wash off any overspray from paths or pavers immediately.

 

Application Rates:

100mL: 50ml in 7L water p/100m2

2.5L:

Recommended Concentrate for 600L spray volume per Hectare (10000m2)

  • 600-1200ml – When turf is actively growing
  • 1200-2400ml – During early dormancy
  • 2400-4800ml – During full dormancy (2 initial applications required)

How to use:

1-           Shake well before use.

2-           Attach the bottle to your garden hose.

3-           Turn on the tap and spray evenly across the entire lawn using a sweeping motion.

4-           Once done, remove from hose and allow to dry for at least 2 hours (when in full sun)
